Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 258 leaks have arrived, and we can’t remember why we ever thought Yuji stood a chance against Sukuna.
In our defense though, after the revelation in the previous chapter that Sukuna is Yuji’s uncle, and the editor hyping Yuji by saying he’d surpassed both Gojo and Sukuna, it was hard to believe he didn’t have at least a fighting chance. We celebrated, blissfully unaware of the gut-punch Gege Akutami had in store for us. This chapter might be proof that Sukuna is the true protagonist of the series, and it seems like no one will ever be able to defeat him.

Sukuna takes the center stage in JJK Chapter 258
- The chapter features not one, not two, but a staggering five double-paged spreads, all hyping up Sukuna’s power.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Sukuna unleashed a brand-new Domain Expansion, proving that Gege Akutami has no intention of letting Yuji stand a chance against the King of Curses.
The leaks reveal that after being hit by Yuji’s seven Black Flashes, Sukuna was unable to regain his Reverse Cursed Technique (RCT) output. However, this didn’t stop him from instantly employing his Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine.
- The narrator’s words leave no room for doubt: “THE KING’S DOMAIN HAD RETURNED TO ITS MASTER, ALONG WITH THE BLACK SPARKS!” Despite including uncertain elements and binding vows, Sukuna managed to replicate Malevolent Shrine without dropping its effective range or output, even after experiencing the Black Flash.

The chapter begins with the narrator explaining that Sukuna was supposed to regenerate all of his lost arms, but due to Yuji’s seven Black Flashes, he couldn’t regain his RCT output. Crucially, Yuji specifically hit the Black Flashes right between Sukuna and Megumi’s soul realms.
Despite this, Sukuna instantly unleashes his Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine!
Yuji swaps Souls
In a flashback, Hakari emphasizes the importance of learning RCT and countermeasures to domains for this fight against Sukuna. Choso says that if it’s about RCT, he and Yuji can manage somehow. Yuji wonders how they can do that.
Choso then asks the RCT users how they compensate for the blood loss when they regenerate their bodies. Hakari and Yuta couldn’t answer, but Shoko says she converts her Cursed Energy into blood. Hakari says his RCT is automatic, while Yuta says he just goes by instinct.
- Choso reveals that his body allows him to convert his Cursed Energy into blood, and if Yuji consumes his remaining brothers, he can gain their Cursed Techniques and the same properties as Choso, including the ability to convert Cursed Energy into blood.
- Choso also says that the downside of using RCT, which is the large amount of Cursed Energy consumption, is not a concern for them due to their special bodies.
Choso then suggests that Yuji should be paired with someone who can use RCT when they do the Body Swapping Training. Yuji is confused, and Ui Ui reveals that with the help of his Cursed Technique, he can even swap the souls between human beings.

Kusakabe says that since Sukuna took over Yuji’s body and used his Cursed Technique, Yuji’s body now remembers the Jujutsu of a Special Grade. So they plan to do the same with the soul swap training.
Kusakabe will first swap with Yuji’s soul and teach basic Cursed Energy manipulation and a Simple Domain to Yuji’s body. Ui Ui asks them to think wisely when making the pairs for the soul swap training because, with the limit of one month, he can only swap twice during this duration.
This is supposed to be a big reveal, but we kind of saw this coming a while back. Gege wasn’t exactly subtle with the hints.
Yuji vs Sukuna’s Domain Clash
Yuji then uses the “New Shadow Style: Simple Domain” against Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine! Yuji notices that Sukuna’s domain is incomplete and has some loopholes, so he can endure it.
The narrator reveals that Sukuna can’t maintain this high-level domain for a long time and also cannot capture Maki, who has no Cursed Energy, within his domain. However, Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine will collapse after 99 seconds!
Yuji, Maki, Ino, and Choso try to endure Sukuna’s rampage. Choso is still concerned about Yuji, his little brother, as he shouts, “Yuji!” Yuji’s simple domain barrier cracks as it couldn’t withstand Sukuna’s domain slashes. Yuji gets slashed and loses his left foot, but he’s still unfazed. That’s our boy!
Yuji notices that the slashes have stopped and thinks they have endured the onslaught, but then Sukuna immediately brings out flames!
The editor’s comment at the end of Chapter 258 is: “THE FLAME OF CERTAIN DEATH CLOSES IN!”
Leak Claims Sukuna Fused Megumi’s Techniques Into His Domain
One of the leakers alleged that Sukuna had somehow incorporated Megumi’s Ten Shadows Technique into his own Domain Expansion. According to the leak, Sukuna had fused Megumi’s abilities into his domain, causing the mythical “Chimera” to manifest behind him. The leak also stated that without losing any of his domain’s power output, Sukuna had managed to recreate Megumi’s Divine Dog construct right within his Malevolent Shrine domain.
- We’ve theorized about the full potential of Megumi’s Domain Expansion before, since Megumi could only ever cast an incomplete domain. To see Sukuna actually utilize it to its maximum capacity would be something else entirely.
- However, we had to fact-check this claim, and it turns out that it’s a fake leak. There is no mention of the Chimera Garden in this chapter, so Sukuna’s new domain doesn’t seem to be related to Megumi’s Ten Shadows Technique.
If the leak were true, though, it would have meant that it is possible to combine two different techniques. And unless this is something only Sukuna can do (thanks to the ridiculous plot armor Gege always gives him), there’s no reason to think that Yuji will not be able to do the same eventually.
This could have massive implications for the story. If Yuji can combine his own Cursed Energy manipulation with other techniques like Choso’s Blood Manipulation or Hakari’s Infinite Cursed Energy, it could potentially give him the power to match or even surpass Sukuna.
However, with the leak being debunked, it seems that Gege Akutami isn’t going down that route, at least not yet.
