Young Kaiser sits on the ground wearing a black hoodie and kicks the ball in the air in Blue Lock Manga

In the last chapter of Blue Lock, Kaiser came up with an attack that wasn’t only hard to understand but also to implement. Most of the players on the field couldn’t wrap their heads around the fact that Michael Kaiser missed a shot. After all, he shook the entire field the first time he shot the Kaiser Impact. But lately, Kaiser has been quite restless. It might be about time his character undergoes a positive change which brings him back to the track.

But before we get to witness a shift like that in his character, we need to understand who Michael Kaiser is and how his journey started. Blue Lock Chapter 260 unveils Kaiser’s past and explains all there is to know about him. Here’s a recap of the chapter to get in touch with the character Michael Kaiser.

Kaiser’s father was a stage director and his mother was an actress. After Kaiser was born, his mother left him with his dad and pursued her acting career to become a famous actress. To deal with the loss, Kaiser’s father started drinking and gambling heavily.

His father would not only self-destruct but also take out his anger on Kaiser in the form of brutal violence. Kaiser didn’t have anywhere to go so he continued to withstand the abuse from his father.

  • His father would order him to go out and steal. Kaiser would make trips to the nearby stores to steal out of the fear of his father. Irrespective of whether he stole or not, his father would get angry at him.

  • Kaiser got better at stealing with passing time. His father never once called him by his name ‘Michael’, the name given to him by his mother.
  • But he continued to cherish a blue rose she gave him. Kaiser never understood why he kept something that belonged to the woman who left him.
  • His father would even compared himself with Kaiser and call him worthless and other horrible things.

As he grew, Kaiser would think about getting away from his father. He began to sell some of the precious items he stole. He started saving up the money he got in return.

Kaiser’s first purchase turned his life around

  • On his 12th birthday, Kaiser decided to get something for himself. While walking on the streets he wonders if he should get but soon comes to the conclusion that he wants something that lasts. That’s when he thinks of buying a football.
  • He starts playing around with the ball observing how it never goes away no matter much he kicks it. It always bounces back to him. Everytime things would get unbearable at home, he would hug the ball and go to sleep.
  • One day, some thieves robbed a jewelry store and one of them pushed the blame on Kaiser, even though he had no role to play in it. The police arrives at his place and his father gets angry at him for stealing. The police found the box of money he saved and brought it out.

The Ray of Hope

His father got agitated and asked him why he had been keeping this money from him. Kaiser doesn’t react much but then a policeman comes out with his football. His father attempts to burst the football incase Kaiser had been stuffing it with money. Seeing that, something within Kaiser snaps and he kicks his father in the face. He even kicks the ball in the policeman’s face. That was the moment, his sense of self was shaped.

At the end of the chapter we see Kaiser in a prison cell with his hands tied behind his back. A man comes named ‘Ray Dark’ comes to his cell and asks him if he loves football. Ray Dark is an authorized PIFA Agent. Before Kaiser could even understand his question, he offers to get him out of the jail if he does love football.

A Tragic Flashback and a life devoid of Kindness

Kaiser had a terrible childhood. There was no one he could rely on and nowhere he could go. He was stuck with his father who was nothing but horrible to him. He spent his early years with a man who only believed in self-destruction with no sense of responsibility and not even the slightest hint of kindness.

His time with his football was the only time he experienced some sort of real connection. This explains his desire to be the best and his goal to defeat Noa.

Everything had been going well for him until Isagi entered the equation. Isagi challenged him and shook his footing once again. Kaiser has been quite erratic on the field lately, which makes one wonder, what’s next for the boy?

In the last chapter, after his Kaiser Impact Magnus failed, Kaiser might have hit the rock bottom. But as they, the only way from the rock bottom is up. Hopefully the saying will hold true for Kaiser as well. While it’d be great if either Isagi or Noa could help him with that, taking any advice from them sounds out of character for Kaiser.

From here on, he might get substituted for a while before he bounces back just like his precious football. Or he might stay on the field and figure out a way to make the impossible Kaiser Impact Magnus work. If he succeeds in doing that, he’ll reclaim his status as the emperor. And we’ll be here to witness the rise of the Blue Rose Boy!
