Before the manga went on break, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 258 confirmed that Yuji Itadori had swapped bodies with Kusakabe to help learn Simple Domain. But the chapter mentioned that Ui Ui had swapped Yuji’s soul twice, and now the JJK fandom is brimming with theories about who else Yuji may have traded places with. One prime candidate that has been hotly debated is none other than Satoru Gojo … but is that even possible?
The evidence seems compelling at first glance. We know Yuji used Ui Ui’s Cursed Technique to facilitate at least one additional body swap during the same timeframe as trading with Kusakabe. Gojo’s long-awaited return has also been heavily teased, from symbolic flower covers to promotional materials from Shonen Jump itself. What if the broad hints were actually pointing towards Yuji inheriting some of Gojo’s immense power through a soul swap?

Did Yuji soul swap with Gojo?
As much as we love the idea of Yuji inheriting Gojo’s techniques, a Yuji-Gojo body swap raises some serious logistical issues that make it seem unlikely.
- Gojo’s skills like the Infinite Void and Six Eyes are intrinsically tied to his family’s bloodline and genetics. It seems highly improbable that Yuji could simply acquire abilities like these just by briefly taking over Gojo’s body. The strengths granted would be more technique knowledge and refined cursed energy control at best.
Additionally, Gojo has been using his Limitless technique since childhood. For Yuji to be able to utilize it, even at reduced efficiency without the Six Eyes, Gojo would have to purposefully use and teach the technique to Yuji’s body while swapped. It’s unclear if Gojo could actually do this, given how intrinsic and natural Limitless is to him.
Other Possible Candidates
Other candidates like Choso or Yuta have been proposed as alternatives, and we can’t lie, they seem like more realistic options.
Choso’s mastery over Blood Manipulation may have accelerated Yuji’s training, though he did ultimately master Reverse Cursed Energy by consuming the other Death Paintings.
- And a look back at when Yuta unleashed his Domain Expansion against Kenjaku shows him cryptically telling Sukuna “we cheated” – could this have been hinting at Yuji temporarily wielding Sukuna’s full power? Or perhaps he swapped with Yuta to learn Domain Expansion?
If I had to guess, it was probably Yuta, and had him use Sukuna’s cursed technique to get some practice with it pic.twitter.com/3YhRT0OYgQ

In the end, while the thought of Yuji briefly walking a mile in Gojo’s shoes is exciting, the realistic advantages seem limited given Gojo’s inborn talents. The identity of his mysterious second body swap partner remains a fascinating open question. But we would love to discuss your thoughts on the matter, so let us know your thoughts in the comments!
One thing is for sure: no matter who Yuji’s soul swap partner ends up being, the implications are sure to be huge. Jujutsu Kaisen continues raising the stakes and introducing brilliant new story arcs with each passing chapter. Yuji’s rapid growth through unique means like body swapping makes his eventual confrontation with Sukuna more exciting. Buckle up fans, because the ride is only going to get crazier from here!
