Last week in Mushoku Tensei Season 2, Rudeus helped Nanahoshi in her research. She was devastated by her continuous unsuccessful attempts until Rudy and his friends joined her in her research. While the letter from Paul prepared Rudeus for the reunion with his sister, Rujierd returned as a pleasant surprise. As comforting as Rujierd’s presence must have been, it also brought back some painful memories.
Rudeus has come a long as he not only took Rujierd’s suggestion regarding Eris quite well but also stepped up for his next responsibility. We see him striving to be a good elder brother to Norn and Aisha. With that, let’s revisit the new developments in his life with a Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 16 Recap.

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 16 Recap
The episode begins with Rudeus catching up with Rujierd. Upon being asked, Rujierd tells Rudeus that he spent two years in a dense forest in the southern region before Paul asked him to escort Norn and Aisha.
He met Roxy as well, who was scared to know that Rujierd is a Superd. Rudy reminisces about the time when Roxy told him about Superds. As Rudeus runs out of things to talk about, Rujierd brings up Eris.
Rujierd brings the Past Along
Reluctant at first, Rudeus tells Rujierd about how Eris left him saying that they weren’t fit for each other. Rujierd listens to him patiently but highlights the possibility that Rudy might have misunderstood her and she probably didn’t hate him. Rudy thinks about it for a few seconds but shuts down his thoughts remembering his years-long suffering.
Rujierd informs him that he’ll be leaving the next day but asks him to hear Eris out if he ever meets her again. Next morning Rudues wakes up to find Rujierd and Badigadi standing together. Worried, he rushes to them, but Badigadi leaves. He asks if everything is okay, to which Rujierd responds that he didn’t expect to meet Badi there.
Rudy let’s out a sigh of relief. As Rujierd is about to leave, Rudeus asks him to stay for the breakfast. While saying goodbye, Norn asks Rujierd to take her along as she didn’t trust Rudeus. Rujierd reassures her that Rudy isn’t unfaithful and asks Sylphy to take care of Rudeus and his sisters.
Rudeus takes on a New Responsibility
After Rujierd leaves, Rudeus asks Norn and Aisha about going to the University of Magic as Paul asked him to send them to school. Aisha expresses her will to look after Rudeus whereas Norn is mostly unreceptive to whatever he asks. She even gets mad at him when he suggests that it’s easy to get into Magic University if you have money, even if you fail the exam.
Aisha screams at Norn and asks her to be respectful to Rudeus. Rudeus asks both of them to take the exam for the university. After Norn leaves angrily, he asks Aisha to be kinder to Norn as she is trying her best.
Later Rudeus shares the details of their discussion with Sylphy. He tells her that Aisha wants to be maid and he’s concerned if it’s the right thing for her. Sylphy reassures him that Aisha will be fine but asks him to focus on Norn.
The way forward for Norn and Aisha
Aisha shares her perfect score with Rudeus and asks him if she can be the maid now. He allows her to do whatever she pleases and tries to indulge Norn in a conversation about her future. She tells him straight out that she wants to live in a dorm. Rudues agrees and Aisha starts crying wondering why he’s listening to Norn despite her not scoring as well.
She questions if he’s being like this being Aisha is his half sister. Rudues questions who told her that, in disbelief. She shares her bad experience where she was treated badly for being the daughter of the concubine. He tells her that he never thought of Lilia as a concubine and he thinks of both Norn and Aisha the same way.
Aisha takes on her job as the maid while Norn prepares to go to the university. At the University, she struggles to make friends. On the other hand Linia and Pursena pull a prank on Rudeus by handing him a bag full of underwears. Princess Ariel calls upon him and enquires him about the same and if he’s unsatisfied with Sylphy. He gets flustered and explains that it’s just a prank.
Princess Ariel teases him some more and he goes to Linia and Pursena and asks them not pull such pranks on him. Norn looks over at them while they have this conversation, Linia and Pursena threaten her. Rudues tells them that she’s his sister and orders them to not to bother her behind his back.
Mushoku Tensei Episode 16 ends with a glimpse of Norn missing her classes and sitting cooped up in her bed.
Will Rudeus get through to Norn?
While Aisha idolizes Rudeus, Norn is having a difficult time. Her history with Rudeus hasn’t been very positive. She doesn’t think well of him either. Isolating herself can’t possibly end well for her. Furthermore, the way Norn is shutting herself is a reflection of Rudeus’ past self. The upcoming episode is titled ‘My Older Brother’s Feelings’. Will Rudeus’ feelings of concern and care get through to Norn?
